Ukraine Response - Young people at the frontlines
The Compact is joining hands with young people affected by the war in Ukraine
The Compact is alarmed and deeply concerned about the severe toll the war in Ukraine is taking on the physical and psychosocial wellbeing of an entire generation of young people.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, young people have rapidly mobilized and engaged in the humanitarian response within Ukraine and neighboring countries. They are organizing and supporting displaced persons, providing transportation and other assistance.
UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR, NRC, ActionAid, Gooddler Foundation and the Scouts, in collaboration with the Global Refugee Youth Network, the Youth Compact Champions and the Compact for Young People in Humanitarian Action, are supporting young humanitarians active in the Ukraine response to navigate the humanitarian sector, identify entry points and increase the effectiveness of their work.
Under the auspices of the Compact for Young People in Humanitarian Action, an Inter-Agency Workshop for young humanitarians working in the Ukraine crisis response was led by UNICEF in collaboration with UNFPA, UNHCR, the Norway Refugee Council (NRC), ActionAid, the Scouts, Global Refugee Youth Network (GRYN), and the Youth Compact Champions. The overall aim of the workshop was to strengthen the work with -and for- young people supporting displaced and refugee families, peers and communities in Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Romania, and other surrounding areas.
